Homes targeted in attacks

Nationalist residents have blamed loyalists for paint bomb attacks on three houses in west Belfast.

One of the houses targeted on Barrack Street belongs to SDLP Councillor Margaret Walsh.

An elderly woman in another house suffered from stress after the attack.

Councillor Walsh said the same three houses were attacked at the same time last year.

"One family has had their window put through and the living room of their house has been damaged.

Family to move out

"They had the same problem last year and they have just got over the last attack.

"They bought new furniture and redecorated their home and now once again it has been damaged by this kind of mindless thinking."

Councillor Walsh added that she would not be intimidated out of the area.

However, Margaret Robinson, who has lived on Barrack Street for 16 years said she had had enough and was moving out.

Meanwhile, a petrol bomb was thrown over the peaceline barrier at Bombay Street into the nationalist Springfield area of north Belfast. It burnt itself out before doing serious damage.
