Montesinos ends protest in Peru
Lawyers for the former intelligence chief in Peru, Vladimiro Montesinos, say he has started eating normally, after refusing food for nine days to press his demand to be moved to another jail.

He is said to have ended his protest and decided to co-operate with the judges who are questioning him.

Mr Montesinos was taking only sugared water and biscuits after his transfer to a military prison in Lima.

He faces a range of charges, including murder, embezzlement, and profiting from drugs dealing.

He was captured in Venezuela and returned to Peru two weeks ago after eight months on the run.
