Former Indonesian minister in corruption probe

A former trade and industry minister, Rahardi Ramelan, has been named by Indonesian prosecutors as a suspect in a corruption investigation.

Officials of the attorney general's office said Mr Ramelan is alleged to have been involved in the misuse of almost $5m from a state agency, the price regulating body, Bulog, that he headed during l989-l999 in the government of former president, B J Habibie.

Correspondents say the agency is also linked to another scandal - the alleged embezzlement carried out by President Wahid's masseur.
