Five Iranian reformists summoned to court

Another five pro-reform members of the Iranian parliament have been summoned by the conservative-dominated judiciary on unspecified charges.

The Iranian official news agency said the MPs were given three days to appear before the court.

Since the beginning of the year, about fifteen deputies have been summoned to court mainly for statements critical of the judiciary and other institutions where conservatives are in control. One deputy was sentenced to thirteen months in prison last month The BBC Iranian affairs analyst says that the power struggles between reformists and conservatives are now mostly focused on the clashes between parliament and the judiciary.
