Sri Lankan rebels killed in clashes
Defence officials in Sri Lanka say the army has killed at least seven Tamil Tiger guerrillas in separate incidents in the east of the country.
On Sunday, five separatists were killed in a gun battle in the Weli Oya region and in a second confrontation, troops shot dead two more rebels. The defence ministry said there had been no government casualties. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
