Amnesty criticises Turkey and Chechnya

The human rights group, Amnesty International, has singled out Turkey in its annual report, for what it said was widespread torture, rape and sexual assault by the security forces.

The organisation said the perpetrators were rarely brought to justice.

The report also said Russian forces in Chechnya had continued to target civilians, including medical personnel, despite claims by Moscow to the contrary.

Amnesty International pointed out that Chechens and other people from the Caucasus continued to be ill-treated in Moscow.
