Fleetwood Mac set for return

Rumours was one of the biggest-selling albums of all time

Singer Stevie Nicks has said that a new Fleetwood Mac album is in the offing.

Nicks told CDNow that she and band founder Mick Fleetwood had made it 'their mission' to make a new record once touring and promotion for her solo record Trouble In Shangri-La was finished.

"When I get done touring for Shangri-La, Fleetwood Mac will do another record," Nicks told CDNow in an interview.

She said she had already given band member and one-time partner Lindsey Buckingham songs for the record.

"I've already given Lindsey 17 demos of songs from the last 30 years, and some that are newer - two that I pulled off of this record that I decided weren't right for this record, and were very much right for Fleetwood Mac.

The last time Fleetwood Mac reunited was for its 1997 tour in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the huge-selling album Rumours, and the release that year of the live album The Dance.

Stevie Nicks' solo album is currently riding high in the US charts and she begins a solo tour of the US on 6 July.

Band founder Mick Fleetwood was inducted into the American 'Rock and Roll Hall of Fame' in 1998.
