Chris Evans has been banned from driving after admitting speeding at more than 100mph in his Ferrari.

The DJ and media millionaire was accompanied by his 18-year-old pop star wife, Billie, at a hearing in Staines Magistrates Court in Surrey on Tuesday.

Evans was stopped by police after racing at 105mph on the A3 in Esher, Surrey, in January.

The court banned him from driving for 56 days and fined him £600, and £35 costs.

The DJ refused to speak to reporters outside the court and the newly-weds were driven away from the court after the hearing.

His wife, whom he married earlier this month in Las Vegas, was asked repeatedly by reporters about rumours of a pregnancy but she did not answer.

Evans's solicitor James Aldridge said the DJ admitted the offence and had co-operated with police.

He said: "He apologises through me for taking up the court's time."

He added: "He says he concedes he was travelling at the speed alleged. The traffic was fairly light and there was good visibility."

The couple was accompanied to court by a Virgin Radio presenter who recorded Evans's comments before and after the case.

The remarks are expected to be broadcast during Evans's radio show on Wednesday morning.

Evans, who could have faced a maximum £1,000 fine, was told by magistrates that the case was "a serious matter".
