Narinder's religion fears
Narinder
Narinder was seen crying by viewers of Big Brother
The husband of Narinder Kaur, one of the 10 Big Brother contestants, has said his wife feared offending Asian communities by appearing on the programme.

Viewers have already seen Narinder, a Sikh, praying in the programme and also sunbathing in the garden, wearing a bikini.

Narinder has a great calming quality and can diffuse situations easily

Jatinder Punia
Jatinder Punia said religion had always been important to Narinder.

"Narinder would not want to offend people from either cultures but she was determined to be herself.

Criticising

"It's very difficult for second and third generation Asians to retain both their Western culture and their religion but I'm sure Narinder will be fine."

Narinder has been seen criticising her fellow contestants for not being able to correctly remember her name.

Speaking in the Big Brother diary room, she questioned if any of the others had ever met an Asian person before.

Mr Punia said he was very proud of his wife's involvement in the series.

"I have no idea what the odds are on her winning. I think she will get past week five at least.

"Narinder has a great calming quality and can diffuse situations easily which should be a good asset to have when tensions rise."

The 28-year-old was seen crying on the Monday night edition of the programme as she celebrated her sixth wedding anniversary away from her husband.

The couple met as students on their first day at university in Derby.

"That was hard, especially seeing Narinder get upset," said Jatinder.

"I think it was culmination of everything that has taken place in the past week that made her cry."
