Police hunt 'peeping Tom'
Lothian and Borders police HQ
Police have appealed for witnesses to contact them
Police have launched a hunt for a man caught trying to film young girls in a leisure centre's changing room.

The man, said to be in his 40s, was disturbed as he tried to take footage of the girls, aged nine and 10, from a neighbouring cubicle.

He is said to have put a camcorder underneath a partition at the Loanhead Leisure Centre in Midlothian.

Lothian and Borders Police said he fled the centre carrying the camera and drove off in a black Peugeot 205 following the incident, happened on Friday afternoon.

'Acting suspiciously'

Detective Inspector Alan Jones, of Dalkeith CID, said: "This was a shocking incident for the young girls involved who were extremely upset at what happened.

"We would appeal to anyone who may have seen this man in the leisure centre on Friday afternoon acting suspiciously or saw him running out and getting into the car."

The man was described as white, middle-aged, 5ft 6in to 5ft 8in tall with dark collar-length hair and wore a blue football top from a foreign team, blue jeans and brown boots.

Det Insp Jones said: "We also want to hear from anyone who recognises anyone fitting the description of the man with his distinctive football top and also owns a dark-coloured Peugeot 205."
