Nepal strike shuts down capital
The Nepalese capital, Kathmandu, has been paralysed for a third day running by a strike called by opposition communist parties who are demanding the resignation of the Prime Minister, Girija Prasad Koirala, for alleged corruption.

Small groups of demonstrators roamed the streets to try to enforce the closure of schools and businesses and prevent the movement of public transport.

There was no repetition of the violence which has left two people dead and more than a hundred others injured in the past two days.
