Speight faces treason hearing
It is exactly one year since democracy died in Fiji. That was the day the military suspended the constitution and declared martial law, after failed businessman George Speight and a gang of special forces soldiers seized parliament and took the prime minister and his government hostage. Tuesday is also the day when George Speight and 11 others will finally go to court, for committal hearings that will decide if they should be charged with the capital offence of treason. The BBC's Phil Mercer reported from Fiji throughout last year's crisis.
