Hospital cleaner on abduction charge
St Thomas' Hospital
Police say the girl did not leave the hospital
A hospital cleaner has appeared in court charged with abducting a 23-month-old girl from a hospital, say police.

Corrine Davidson, 50, of no fixed address, was remanded in custody after appearing at Camberwell Magistrates Court, south-east London on Monday.

She is charged with abducting the child from St Thomas' Hospital in London on Saturday.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said the girl did not leave the hospital grounds.

The Sun newspaper reported that the child was being treated at the hospital for pneumonia.
