Afghan talks end on food row

A high-level United Nations delegation has held a second day of talks with the Taleban authorities in Afghanistan to try to resolve a dispute over food distribution.

Neither side has made any comment and the UN team is due to return to Pakistan shortly.

The talks were arranged after the World Food Programme threatened to close down its bakeries in the capital, Kabul, unless the Taleban allowed it employ Afghan women to make a new survey of people who are eligible to receive subsidised bread.

The Taleban forbids women from working outside their homes.
