Wahid faces impeachment Supporters of President Abdurrahman Wahid of Indonesia broke into the grounds of the parliament building. But inside the chamber, politicians voted to press for his impeachment over allegations of corruption. The hearing will take place on 1 August.
Palestinians mourn Husseini Tributes have been paid to the leading moderate Palestinian politician, Faisal Husseini, who has died aged 61. He was a pioneer in establishing political dialogue with the Israelis. The Palestinian leader, Yasser Arafat cut short a visit to Europe to attend his funeral.
French jailbreak attempt It could have been the Great Escape, but a daring helicopter break-out from a prison near Paris did not go quite according to plan. A local resident videoed the dramatic moment the helicopter failed to pick up two convicts, turning the escape attempt into a hostage crisis.
Helicopter tragedy
A South Korean military helicopter crashes into a bridge in Seoul, killing all three people on board. The accident happened shortly before rush hour when the bridge would have been packed with traffic.
New species of Dinosaur Scientists have found the remains of a new giant species of dinosaur in the Egyptian desert. Paralatitan stromeri, as it's been Christened, would have weighed 80 tons and measured up to 100 feet from nose to tail.
