Lithuanian consul kidnapped in Lebanon

A wealthy Lebanese national who acts as Lithuania's honorary consul in Lebanon, Raymond Sarkis, has been kidnapped, and his captors have demanded a ransom for his release.

His car was found abandoned near the village of Zikrit, in the Metn mountains near the capital, Beirut.

Security officials say that the kidnapers contacted the Sarkis family, but gave no further details.
