Church apologises for Jewish massacre |

| The Polish Catholic church has expressed its regret at a pogrom during the Second World War in which Poles are thought to have killed around sixteen hundred Jews. For decades it was believed the killings were the work of the German occupying forces but recently historians have argued that Poles were to blame. The statement was made at a special service held at a Cathedral in Warsaw attended by most of the country's bishops. The BBC's Ray Furlong reports. |
