Dome raid suspect held in Spain
Millennium Dome
The London attraction was targeted last November
A man wanted in connection with an alleged conspiracy to steal millions of pounds worth of diamonds from the Millennium Dome has been arrested in Spain.

Metropolitan Police Flying Squad officers travelled to the Costa del Sol where they joined Spanish police in the arrest operation.

A spokesman for the Spanish police said James Hurley, 46, from south London, had been remanded in custody pending extradition proceedings.

Mr Hurley was held in the Marbella area on Friday in connection with an alleged conspiracy to steal the De Beers Millennium Jewels on 7 November last year.

Nine men already face trial accused of conspiring to steal diamonds worth £200m.

Police said a raid on the diamonds would have been the world's biggest robbery, if it had been successful.

However, the raiders would not have netted the fortune they were after - the diamonds having been switched for replicas.
