Sogo chief arrested

Police in Japan have arrested the former chairman of the Japanese department-store chain, Sogo, which collapsed last year with debts of more than $15bn..

Hiroo Mizushima, who is 89, was arrested in a hospital bed - he'd served Sogo as chairman or president for almost 40 years up to its collapse, building the company into one of the biggest and most successful department stores in Asia.

Mr Mizushima is accused of concealing his personal wealth, to avoid it being seized by Sogo creditors after the company filed for court protection from banrkuptcy.
