Arrest after garden remains identified
![]() Police sealed off the garden after the discovery
A man is in police custody in connection with the discovery of a human skull and skeleton in a garden in north east Scotland earlier this month.
The human remains have been identified as those of a man who went missing last year. Grampian Police said the skeletal remains, discovered earlier this month in the back garden of a property in Low Street, Buckie, Moray, were those of 42-year-old Michael Munro. Mr Munro, who was an occasional resident at the address up to July 1998, was reported missing last April.
Tenant Billy Dickson, 47, found the skull on 4 May while he was digging the garden. He moved into the property with his wife Kate just 10 days before. Grampian Police officers and forensic scientists began a detailed search of the area and later found a skeleton, along with some remnants of clothing, close to the spot where the skull was discovered. The skeleton was examined by a forensic pathologist in a bid to establish the cause of death and identification of the remains. A Grampian Police spokesman said a report would be submitted to the procurator fiscal at Elgin.
