Menem to marry

The former Argentine President, Carlos Menem, is getting married today, to a Chilean beauty queen, who is half his age.

Mr Menem met his bride, Cecilia Bolocco, a former Miss Universe, when she interviewed him two years ago.

The BBC Latin America Correspondent says the love life of the flamboyant 70-year-old Mr Menem has rarely been out of the Argentine press.

His first marriage ended in a bitter divorce with his ex-wife accusing him of corruption and cover-ups during his years in power.

Mr Menem is due in court in just over a month's time, to face charges that he authorised illegal weapons sales abroad while he was in power.
