Keating 'snubs' Boyzone
Ronan Keating has had two solo number ones
Boyzone singer Mikey Graham has said he is no longer in contact with the group's lead Ronan Keating after Keating put the group on ice for his solo career.
The five group members have each been trying to make it as pop singers on their own. But Graham claimed Keating - the only one to have had success - had upset the others because he had become so stand-offish. "He doesn't phone, he doesn't call, he doesn't write. He's just looking in a different direction," Graham said in an interview with Independent Radio News.
"The boys aren't too happy with him. It's not really a good thing to do - it took five people to make Boyzone and five people to make Ronan Keating. "We were supposed to do a tour at the end of the year for the fans and he turned round and said he didn't want to do it." Keating has had three solo hits, including two number ones, following his drift away from Boyzone more than a year ago. The others - with perhaps the exception of Stephen Gately - have failed to make any real headway. Graham said he could "vaguely" see a time when the band might reunite "when everybody is satisfied with their solo careers and what they're doing". But, he added, that if they did reform there would have to be big changes. In particular, he stressed, the trademark dance routines would have to go. "If I successfully established myself as a credible singer-songwriter I'm not going to go back prancing around the stage," Graham concluded.
