Pakistan opens Chinese-aided nuclear plant
The Pakistani military leader, General Parvez Musharraf, is due to inaugurate a nuclear power plant built with Chinese assistance later today. Speaking to a visting Chinese delegation, the general described the project, at Chashma in central Punjab, as yet another manifestation of close friendship and cooperation between the two countries. The Pakistani foreign minister, Abdul Sattar, is due to visit China next month -- and officials in Islambad said that the Chinese prime minister, Zhu Rongji, would visit Pakistan in May.
