Canadian bikers run out of town

Police in Canada have arrested a-hundred-and-twenty bikers suspected of involvement in organised crime, in the largest ever operation of its kind.

The arrests were made in early morning raids by hundreds of police at locations across Quebec, where a turf war between the Hell's Angels and rivals from the Rock Machine gang has claimed at least a-hundred-and-fifty lives in recent years.

The bikers face charges ranging from drug-trafficking and prostitution to extortion and murder.

Four years ago, the government passed tough new anti-gang legislation giving police special powers to investigate and prosecute criminal organisations.
