Controversial Czech plant shuts for repairs
A controversial Czech nuclear power plant at Temelin, near the Austrian border, has been shut down following a new technical problem. A spokesman for the Soviet-designed plant said that after vibrations developed in pipes, the plant capacity has been reduced. The Temelin plant has suffered repeated problems and shut-downs since it was activated last October, despite protests by politicians and environmentalists in neighbouring Austria.
