Disease threatens Bangladesh goats

Veterinary scientists in Bangladesh have identified the virus of a livestock disease which is threatening the country's goat population.

They say 25,000 goats have already died from Goat Plague over the past six months, and three million more are at risk.

The chief investigator of the Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute Dr.

Bijon Kumar Sil, says a vaccine should be developed locally to try to restrict its spread.

The highly infectious virus was first detected in 1993 and killed seven million goats in three years
