Iranian deputy charged
A reformist member of the Iranian parliament has been freed on bail after being accused of insulting the judiciary and inciting public opinion. The MP, Fatima Haqiqatjou, has been an outspoken critic of earlier arrests of reformist figures, and of the closure of liberal newspapers. Her arrest marked the first time that a deputy had been held for comments made inside parliament. The BBC Correspondent in Tehran says the case puts the reformist-dominated parliament at odds with the judiciary, which is seen as a bastion of the hardline conservatives.
