MTV plans reality TV show
MTV US has commissioned a fan reality series called Becoming, which is to be launched in the channel's branded 10 Spot in May.

In each episode a fan will get star treatment and the chance to become their idol in a reshoot of a classic music video by their favoured artist.

Among the artists who will be emulated are the Backstreet Boys and Destiny's Child.

The series will begin on 14 May with four episodes in the first week and six other weekly episodes.

Three Tenors go to China

The Three Tenors - Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras - are to give concert inside the walls of Beijing's Forbidden City.

The event will take place in the former imperial palace on 23 June according to the Chinese state news agency.

The three have performed together at major venues throughout the world since their first concert in Rome in 1990 to celebrate Carreras' recovery from leukaemia.

Jonze also directed Norman Cook's 1999 hit video Praise You.

The single, Weapon of Choice, is released on 23 April.

90201 star denies drink driving

Former Beverly Hills 90210 actor Shannen Doherty has pleaded innocent to drink driving after her lawyers disputed the amount of alcohol in her blood.

Arrested in California in December by officers who said her vehicle was weaving across the highway, she will go on trial on 10 April.

Prosecutors said a blood test showed her alcohol limit was 0.13%. The legal limit in California is 0.08%.

The actress, who stars as a witch in the TV show Charmed, says an independent blood test confirms her story.

Nigella tops TV chefs poll

Nigella Lawson has topped an internet poll of favourite TV chefs.

Jamie Oliver came second in the voting run by the website London.eats.com, with Keith Floyd in third position.

But Delia Smith only came in at eighth position, beyond the likes of Ainsley Harriott and Nigel Slater.

Lawson, who recently lost her husband John Diamond to cancer, also picked the top prize at the British Book Award earlier in the year.

The show had been booking up until May but it will now close on 7 April after a fall in ticket sales.
