Court extends Delhi bus rule
The Supreme Court in India has given bus operators in Delhi another six months to replace diesel engine vehicles with a more environmentally-friendly alternative. But the court said the latest extension will apply only to those operators who had placed orders for new engines which run on Compressed Natural Gas. In a ruling two years ago, the court ordered that all buses would have to be running on gas engines by April the first. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
