Four militants killed in Kashmir

The authorities in Indian-administered Kashmir say security forces have shot dead four separatist guerillas belonging to the Al-Badr militant group.

They say the incident took place at Puthshahi Lolab, a-hundred kilometres from Srinagar, when a suspected militant hideout was raided by Indian forces.

Police say one army officer was also killed.

Security has been put on high alert in the state following the suicide attack on Monday on a major police compound in Srinagar, by the Pakistan-based militant group, Lashkar-e-Toiba. Seven people, including four policemen were killed in the attack. Senior security officials have met in Srinagar to discuss possible responses, following a series of suicide attacks in recent weeks.
