Tiger leader's kids excel

Reports from Sri Lanka say the children of the leader of the Tamil Tiger rebels, Vellupillai Prabhakaran, have excelled at national school examinations.

Mr Prabhakaran's son and daughter achieved the top results of any children in rebel areas, securing distinctions in several subjects.

But government officials say because the children sat the exams separately in a secret jungle hideout in northern Sri Lanka, there's no way of establishing if they were properly supervised.

Sri Lankan military offficials say Mr Prabhakaran thinks nothing of sending other people's children to war, while his own children study for exams.
