The girl escaped from the third floor flat
A 13-year-old girl has been treated in hospital after an arson attack in north Belfast.

The girl was asleep in bed in a third floor flat at Cliftonville Avenue on Saturday afternoon when a fire was started in an unoccupied ground floor flat.

The fire spread to a second floor flat which was also unoccupied.

The girl awoke to find her third floor room full of smoke.

She was treated in hospital for the effects of breathing in smoke, but was later discharged.

The police are asking anyone who knows anything about the incident to contact them.
