Israeli soldiers kill Palestinian man

The Israeli army says soldiers have shot dead a Palestinian man near Hebron, in the West Bank after an exchange of fire.

The death follows clashes earlier in the day, when Israeli security forces broke up a series of demonstrations against the continuing blockade of Palestinian areas on the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

Troops fired into the air and used tear gas to disperse a march by several hundred Palestianian students, academics and journalists, close to an Israeli settlement outside Gaza City.

Hundreds of Palestinians have died in nearly six months protests against Israeli occupation.
