Israeli soldiers kill Palestinian man
The Israeli army says soldiers have shot dead a Palestinian man near Hebron, in the West Bank after an exchange of fire. The death follows clashes earlier in the day, when Israeli security forces broke up a series of demonstrations against the continuing blockade of Palestinian areas on the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Troops fired into the air and used tear gas to disperse a march by several hundred Palestianian students, academics and journalists, close to an Israeli settlement outside Gaza City. Hundreds of Palestinians have died in nearly six months protests against Israeli occupation. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
