Thai plane fire caused by bomb?

The Thai authorities say the fire that broke out yesterday on board the prime minister's plane WAS caused by a bomb.

The prime minister, Thaksin Shinawatra, is quoted as telling reporters it was not an accident.

His security adviser said the explosive appeared to have been placed near Mr Thaksin's seat.

The fire broke out shortly before Mr Thaksin was due to board the aircraft.

There has been no word about who could have carried out an attack, though newspaper speculation has linked it to the prime minister's campaign against drug trafficking.

One cabin crew member died and seven others were injured.
