French nuclear leak alert

The state-owned French power company, Electricite de France, says more than one-hundred workers had to be evacuated from one of its nuclear power stations after a radiation alert.

The company said excessive radiation was reported during maintenance work on a reactor at the Cattenom power station, near the German border in north-east France.

But it added that there was no risk to health, and normal work would resume in the morning.
