Germany North Korea open diplomatic relations

Germany and North Korea have announced that they've established diplomatic relations.

The decision follows talks in Berlin; a German spokesman said the discussions had been extremely difficult, but had now achieved the political basis for an exchange of ambassadors.

Germany is the eleventh European Union member to establish full ties with communist North Korea.
