Human Rights Commissioner concern over Indonesia
Mrs Robinson said there was a responsibility at diplomatic and political levels for governments in the region to make their views known very strongly on this issue. She said it was vital that the international community also reinforces the primary assumption of responsibility by Indonesia to protect vulnerable sections of its population. Mrs Robinson said her office in Geneva was receiving urgent allegations and complaints and as Human Rights Commissioner, she was preparing to voice her concerns more publicly on the matter.
