Hungary bans sex adverts
The Hungarian parliament has approved legislation to ban sexual and tobacco advertisements. While a total ban has been introduced on tobacco advertising, the publication of sexual advertisements continues to be permitted in pornographic magazines and sex shops. Critics of the law say a total ban on tobacco advertising violates European Union rules. Hungary hopes to become an EU member by 2003. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
