Bardot mission to save Romanian dogs
The authorities in the Romanian capital, Bucharest, have begun to round up the city's estimated three hundred thousand stray dogs. Romanian officials say the dogs bite up to fifty people a day; all those not claimed within ten days will be killed. The animal rights campaigner and former French film star, Brigitte Bardot, has gone to Bucharest to persuade Romanian leaders to save the dogs. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
