Events cancelled as farm crisis spreads

BBC Wales has been keeping a record of cancelled events
In addition to the Wales v Ireland Six National clash on Saturday, the foot-and-mouth disease outbreak has caused the cancellation of a host of events across Wales.

Services in large rural areas such as Powys are beginning to be affected. Radnorshire's mobile library service has been suspended and some refuse collections have been put on hold.

The following is a list of rural community cancellations notified to BBC Radio Cymru's helpline number

    Friday, 2 March

  • St David Evening at Talwrn Hall, Llangefni, orgnised by the village's Eisteddfod Committee.

  • A night with Celt and Comedy Club Wales at Glan Gwna, Caernarfon.

  • St David's Evening at Gwytherin Hall.

  • Bala Eisteddfod which was to be held at the Welsh Independents Chapel.

      Saturday, 3 March.

    • Llandegla Welsh language drama society.

    • Eifionydd area eisteddfod for ages under 12 and 12-15 in Y Ganolfan Porthmadog.

    • Bangor University St David's concert.

    • Mountain and Moorland course, Llanberis.

    • Gwynedd and Anglesey schools band practices in Friars School on Saturday and Sunday.

    • Open air show in Neuadd y Cyfnod, Bala. Official opening of Canolfan Glasinfryn near Bangor.

    • Troed Rhiw Dalar Eisteddfod near Brecon.

    • Aberdaron church folk dancing and supper in Rhoshirwaun hall.

    • Old Age party of the Women's Institute, Trapp.

    • Annual meeting of Friends of Gwynedd Youth Music, Friars School, Bangor, postponed until 31 March.
