Kosovo border talks to continue

follows MACEDONIA KOSOVO} Talks are due to resume later today Friday on preventing further fighting in southern Serbia next to the border with Kosovo.

Reports from the region say it was quiet on Thursday, after clashes on Wednesday.

Officials from NATO and the Serbian government say they're continuing discussions on Belgrade's latest proposals to end the clashes between ethnic-Albanian separatists and the Yugoslav security forces, in what's supposed to be a demilitarised buffer zone.

A Serb government official Nebojsa Covic was quoted by the AP news agency as describing the talks as constructive.

NATO has already said it's to reduce the buffer zone because separatists are using it as cover for attacks.
