Pakistan urges India to resume sport

The Pakistani military ruler, General Pervez Musharraf, has urged India to resume sporting ties.

General Musharraf told a visiting Indian peace delegation that cricket and hockey series between the two countries should start again.

India had cancelled the annual Sahara Cup cricket tournament for the past two years and withdrew from last year's scheduled cricket tour of Pakistan to protest at what it called Islamabad's continued support to cross-border terrorism in Kashmir. The Indian delegation, which includes several retired military officers, also thanked the Pakistani people for sending relief assistance to the victims of last month's devastating earthquake in Gujarat.
