Syria passes anti-piracy law
Syria has passed into law a guarantee of copyright protection for all creative works, including computer programmes, books and films. The law was drafted more than twenty years ago but was only recently presented to parliament. The head of the Federation of Arab Writers, Ali Okla Orsan, said the law would be of great benefit to Syrian actors, writers and singers who have received no royalties from the copying and reselling of their work.
