Dando accused: first court pictures
Barry George
Barry George (right) is accused of murder
The judge in the Jill Dando murder trial has lifted a ban on the publication of pictures of the accused man, Barry George.

This morning's proceedings at the Old Bailey have been taken up with legal arguments which are kept confidential.

Mr Justice Gage overturned a previous ban on any picture or artist impression being published when he sat to hear a second day of legal submissions at the Old Bailey.

The jury is expected to be voted in tomorrow, in what is expected to be one of the most high-profile murder trials of recent years.

Face-to-face

George, 40, from Fulham, west London, has denied murdering 37-year-old Miss Dando on the doorstep of her home in Fulham, on April 26, 1999.

Miss Dando's fiance, gynaecologist Alan Farthing, and BBC Crimewatch presenter Nick Ross were among those at the court who faced George for the first time.

The trial is expected to last up to six weeks.
