India test-fires multi-target missile
India has successfully test-fired a short-range surface-to-air missile from a mobile launcher on the country's eastern coast of Orissa. The multi-target Akash missile has a range of twenty-five kilometres and can deliver fifty-five kilograms of explosives. India has already tested the short-range surface-to-surface Prithvi missile, which is capable of carrying a nuclear or conventional warhead. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
