Estrada campaigns for wife
The deposed Philippine President Joseph Estrada has been greeted by a small crowd of followers on his first provincial trip since he was ousted last month. Mr Estrada was visiting the southern city of Zamboanga to help his wife campaign for a senate seat. It was only his second public appearance since he was unseated by a popular revolt, backed by the military. He told reporters at the airport that, legally and constitutionally, he was still the president of the republic. Mr Estrada is being investigated for charges of economic plunder, misuse of funds, perjury and bribery. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
