Palestinians: new arrest
Reports from Israel say police have arrested the brother of a leader of Yasser Arafat's Fatah movement. The reports say that Hisham Barghouti, whose brother, Marwan, is Fatah leader on the West Bank, was detained at the Allenby crossing point with Jordan. Israeli reports say he was carrying what they describe as night-vision equipment. The Israelis have repeatedly accused Marwan Barghouti of being behind the past five months of clashes in the West Bank. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
