New government in Equatorial Guinea
The new Prime Minister of the West African state of Equatorial Guinea, Candido Muatetema Rivas, has formed a new government, after the removal of his predecessor. President Teodoro Obiang Nguema appointed Mr Rivas following the resignation of the previous prime minister, Angel Serafin Seriche Dougan, who was blamed for creating a constitutional crisis. Mr Dougan's government was accused by President Nguema of failing to respect the opinion of the majority of the people or the country's interests. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
