Manipur rebels reject ceasefire offer
Two of the main separatist rebel groups in India's northeastern state of Manipur have rejected a government ceasefire offer. The Revolutionary Peoples Front RPF and the United National Liberation Front UNLF described the offer as a ploy to derail them from their struggle. They said they would open talks with Delhi but only if Manipur's sovereignty was discussed. The main rebel groups in the neighbouring state of Assam and in the northern states of Jammu and Kashmir have also rejected similar ceasefire declarations by Delhi.
