Lamplugh police resume body hunt
![]() Suzy Lamplugh disappeared after going to meet a client
Police investigating the murder of estate agent Suzy Lamplugh, who disappeared 15 years ago, have resumed a search of land close to an army barracks.
The officers will spend two days digging at a specific site close to disused brickworks at Norton Barracks near Worcester. Police spent five days at the site in December last year, but found nothing. The new search, involving 12 officers, is of an area that was waterlogged at the time and was not dug up. Miss Lamplugh, then 25, vanished in 1986 after going to meet a client calling himself "Mr Kipper" who had arranged to view a house in Fulham. Her Ford Fiesta car was recovered an hour and 20 minutes later about a mile away, but her body has never been found. The police inquiry failed to find her body and eventually the family accepted she had been murdered. New witnesses Last May the investigation was reopened and an appeal was made on the BBC's Crimewatch UK programme. The publicity encouraged new witnesses to come forward. Last year, detectives questioned convicted killer John Cannan in connection with Miss Lamplugh's death, but he was not charged. Police also appealed for more information about a dark, left-hand drive BMW car that a jogger saw in Fulham at the time of Suzy's disappearance. The witness said he saw a blonde young lady in the car who looked like she was screaming for help. The jogger's testimony was initially discounted by police because it did not fit into their timescale of events. He also said the woman had blonde hair, but pictures distributed of Miss Lamplugh had brown hair. However Miss Lamplugh had had her hair highlighted a week before she was abducted.
